Gwen Cooper is Coming to Kansas City

I'm a big fan of Homer the Blind Wondercat, so that means I'm a big fan of his mom, too. Gwen Cooper is going to be in Kansas City this Saturday, June 22nd and I can't wait!

She's going to be here promoting her book Love Saves the Day. You can read my review here. The short review is: it's PAWESOME!

You should come out to seen Gwen on Saturday at Unity Temple on the Plaza, 707 W. 47th St. She'll be there talking about her book and cats at 1 p.m.

My First Year at the Rainbow Bridge

It's been a year today since I made my journey to the Rainbow Bridge. I've got to say, it's great here!

Every day I nap on my fluffy cloud, run through nip fields, and eat my fill of salmon. I watch over Mama and send her purrs and smoochies every day. I hang out with my pals who are at the Bridge, too. For my friends who haven't made the journey, I watch over them as well as connect with them on Twitter.

I know how sad Mama is today and I understand why. We are the purrfect pair! She hates not having me around to cuddle with. I know it won't be long before we're together again, though. As good as things are here at the Bridge, that's the only thing that could make it better-having my Mama with me.

Don't worry about me, pals. If you miss me, I'm really not far way. Just look up in the sky and I'll wave to you from my cloud or twinkle my star for you.

Yaz's Day at the Beach

Last Sunday Mama and Dad took Yaz to a corgi meet-up at the Dog Beach at Shawnee Mission Park. Although Yaz didn't enjoy himself as much as Mama did, they're going to go back again so that he can try to make friends.

Yaz look alikes.

He wasn't sure about getting in the water.

Corgis swimming.

Even tripawds like the beach!

Happy Yaz.

Corgis chasing a ball.

Harvey Turns Three

Do you know what a 3 year old cat looks like? Well, it looks like this:

Go ahead, I'd stare at a cat as handsome as me, too.

Today is my birthday and I'm 3!

Last year on my birthday, I was in a kennel at Wayside Waifs, waiting for someone to come along and appreciate my handsomeness enough to take me home. I didn't get presents or a special meal.

A couple of weeks later, Mom and Dad adopted me! Mom had come to see me before then, but she was feeling sad since brother Sebastian had just gone to the Rainbow Bridge. She petted me and admired my orange fur. Neither of us knew we would be family soon.

When Mom and Dad adopted me, it was like the best late birthday present ever! I had my very own forever home!

This birthday is much better. Although my gifts will come late again this year because Mom is sick, I'm happy and comfy. I have sisfur Evelyn to play with, Grandma to feed me brekkie early in the mornings, and my choice of soft beds to sleep on.

I'm the luckiest kitty in the world! Happy birthday to me!

Featured Furry: Phillip

This edition of Featured Furry focuses on a kitty at Great Plains SPCA in Merriam, Kansas. His name is Phillip and he's a pretty cool cat!

Phillip is a year old and has already spent 3 months of his young life at Great Plains. He was found as a stray, wandering the streets of Lenexa.

He's a handsome guy! He's long-legged and sleek. He also has a great mustache.

He's more than a pretty face though, he's quite the athlete, too! Just look at him chase the ball in this video made by his favorite volunteer, Kathryn!

Now that's a lot of energy! Phillip is going to need an owner who will give him the exercise he needs. If he doesn't get enough activity he'll come up with stuff to do on his own and that might not turn out so well!

Phillip wants to find his forever home, one that will respect his purrsonality and give him lots of play time. If you think you've got what he needs, come check him out at Great Plains. Be ready to play!

My Garden is Coming Together

Mama got a good start on my garden today. Dad helped her spread the dirt and she planted a bunch of seeds.

She planted two purple fountain grass plants. Those were always my favorite to chew on! She also put out a St. Francis of Assisi statue. It's going to look pawsome when the seeds start to sprout!

The Prayer of St. Francis
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace,
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
Where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master,
grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled, as to console;
to be understood, as to understand;
to be loved, as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive.
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life.

Amen.
