Christmas Photo Shoot Outtakes-Evelyn

Since Evelyn is our only girl kitty, I wanted her in a pretty Christmas dress for her holiday photo. She disagreed.

She doesn't exactly do "lady-like." She then decided she was so embarrassed that she was just going to hide in the cottage.

I don't think her stalker knows what he's about to get himself into.

Finally I thought I was getting some cooperation when she sat under the tree. Unfortunately, she sat there and gave me the stink-eye.

She wouldn't be Evelyn if she didn't have the attitude!

Back Cat Appreciation Day

In honor of Black Cat Appreciation Day, I wanted to share some of my favorite pics of my housepanther, Evelyn. We appreciate her for her beauty and independence.

She, however, does not appreciate being forced to live with dogs.

We love you, Evelyn! You'll always be our kitten!

A New Life for an Old Bed

As many of you know, Evelyn lives in our bedroom. Stilwell was making her life miserable and now she's more relaxed and happier than ever. She spends a lot of time on my dresser, looking out the window. A couple of days ago, I moved the dresser so that it was directly in front of the window. There is a blanket on the dresser, but she enjoys laying in our laundry basket so I thought she would like a bed there instead.

I asked my husband if he would be okay with Evelyn using Sebastian's old bed. Seb went to the Bridge 2 1/2 years ago and a lot of his stuff has been in a large Ziploc bag since the day after he died. My hubby was okay with it, so I got it out.

I placed it on the dresser and let Evelyn check it out. She sniffed it all over before she decided she could get in it. It didn't take long for her to decide it's the perfect spot to nap or to watch the birds in the trees.

*sniff sniff*

Making biscuits in the new bed.

I love that she is using Sebastian's bed. It makes me happy to know that she can feel the love that I gave to him and he gave back to me, all through a cozy place to sleep.

Soaking in the sun.

Look at that view.

Evelyn's Gotcha Day

Today is Evelyn's second Gotcha Day. It feels like she's been with us much longer than that! She is acting more like the kitten we adopted two years ago since we have been keeping her in our room away from the boys.

She's relaxed, playful, and talkative. I love seeing her like this.

I look forward to many more years with my little housepanther.

HAPPY GOTCHA DAY, EVVIE GIRL!

We Are Thankful

Happy Thanksgiving!

I asked all the kitties (and the dog) what they were thankful for this year. Here is what they told me:

Harvey

I'm thankful for my amazing whiskers and floofy tail. They get me out of trouble when I've opened all the drawers in the bedroom looking for treats.

Evelyn

I'm thankful for the kitchen and all the yummy stuff it contains. Does this angle make my hips look big? I thought black was supposed to be slimming.

Lowenstein

I'm thankful for sunshine, a warm bed, and cuddles. And every now and then, a soft rug to pee on.

Stilwell

I'm thankful for Dr. Long and the entire staff at Banfield for taking such good care of me. I'm very thankful for my daddy. He's the best daddy in the world.

Yaz

I'm thankful for calming treats and that the annoying tweeting track-ball toy the cats use to freak me out has been moved to the basement.

We're all very thankful for our readers and fans. Thanks for loving all of us and we wish you a joyous and peaceful holiday season.

I Make My Own Rules

Mom says this isn't a blanket. I say, you have to make your own rules.

Packing Up

Mom spent the afternoon in the office yesterday. Usually she sits at the desk, but she was sitting on the floor putting all her books in boxes. This looked like a big job, so I thought I'd be a good girl and help her.

Yep, there's room for another book in here.

Mom told me that she was packing our stuff so we could move into the new house. She said it was very exciting. It's making me a little nervous, but I'll still help!

Fun and Games with Catnip Bubbles

Mom bought us a new toy on Friday. It wasn't a jingle ball like I love or a sparkle ball like Evelyn carries around. It was catnip bubbles by Hartz!

Blowin' Bubbles by Hartz

Mom & Dad had been shopping at Crown Center in Kansas City. Of course, Mom had to go to her favorite store there, Gatos. They have the coolest cat stuff and have some neat toys Mom doesn't find anywhere else.

Once they got home, Mom decided to see what we thought of the bubbles. I was immediately mystified! If it took too long for Mom to blow more bubbles, I meowed at her to hurry up!

At first, Evelyn didn't really get it. She got bored and walked away. When Mom brought them back out again on Sunday, Evelyn figured it out. This was fun!

We had a great time watching the bubbles float in the air. I can't wait until we get to play with them again!

We were in no way compensated for this post. Mom just really loves to shop at Gatos and bought the Hartz bubbles because they looked cool.

Girl Talk

One of my favorite things to do is chat with Mom in the bathroom while she's getting ready. Isn't that what girls do?
